   The Condenser is a part in mechanical refrigeration system or vapour compression system. which changes vapour Refrigerant or gas into liquid Refrigerant or gas state ( by the rejected heat to the atmosphere) is called a condenser. 


How does the condenser work 

   The Basic working principal of the condenser received vapour Refrigerant or gas from the discharge line of the compressor at higher temperature and higher pressure to condenses(by the heat rejection takes place to atmosphere help of air and water.) in to convert high pressure and normal temperature of liquid Refrigerant to the liquid line of the receiver or fliter Or drier. 


Where is the condenser used?

   The Use Or application of the, condenser is both domestic and commercial refrigeration and air conditioning system, HVAC system. 


Installed of the condenser 

   The condenser Installed of the, between compressor and receiver, filter or drier.The compressor outlet pipe are connected to the condenses inlet pipe and The condenser outlet pipe are connected to the fliter Or Drier inlet pipe. The vapour compression refrigeration system Or mechanical compression refrigeration system. 



 Types of condenser 

      There are Three Types of condenser

               . Air cooled condenser 

               . Water cooled condenser 

               . Evaporative type condenser 

and Other one of the Atmospheric Condenser. 



What is a Air Cooled Condenser? 

    It is that condensers which is cooled by the help of natural air or fan (located on the motor or built into the compressor fly wheel) is called. It is very commonly used in domestic or where cooling water is not required.Air is used as the cooling medium in the air-cooled condensers. Heat transfer takes place by air convection around the condenser surface. 



What are the different Types of the Air-convection? 

    There are two ways of air-convection coming into play in the working of the condenser:

          .  Natural Convection 

          .  Forced Convection


natural air convection  

   This Condensers which is cooled by the help of only natural air is called. This Condensers, are large condensing surface area is required in case of circulated air quantity is less. This type of condensers are used in domestically system like refrigerators, deep freezers and other small capacity applications.

 Advantages: 

     No fan used to air flow.

 Disadvantages: 

    Natural air convection is a slow process to heat transfer. 



forced air convection 

   This Condensers which is cooled by natural air by the help of fan Or blower is called. This type of condensers are compact in design and are relatively more efficient. This Condensers are used in both domestic and commercial system like water coolers, visible coolers, window air conditioners, split air conditioners, package air conditioners, small air conditioning plants etc. 

 Advantages:

    Increase heat transfer capacity. it is more than efficient as the compare to the natural convection air-cooled condensers. 

Disadvantage: 

   Require high power fan to force the air depends upon the Capacity of the machine. It is power consuming as well as noisy. 



types of forced convection air-cooled condensers:  

   There are two types of forced convection air cooled condenser 

     . Chasis-mounted condensers 

     . Remote air-cooled condensers 



Chasis-mounted condensers

   The chasis-mounted condenser is mounted on the common chasis with the compressor, motor and other components. Finned tubes are used to increase effective condensing area. However its size and capacity is limited due to small size of the chasis. It is used on units normally having capacity up to 3 tons.



Remote air-cooled condensers

   Remote air cooled condensers are located away for the compressors. These are located usually on the roof tops or in windows. These may be either natural convection type or forced draft type. The natural convection type remote air-cooled condensers are used when large areas are available for installation. Forced convection remote air-cooled condensers require 0.1 to 0.2 HP motor per ton to run the fan. This type of condensers are suitable for fairly large capacity of systems.

What is a Water Cooled Condenser? 

   The condenser which is cooled by the only water, is called a water cooled condenser. It is used in commercial or industrial Refrigerating system Or machine and air conditioning system or plants for condensing the gas.



Types of water cooled condenser

   There are Three types of water cooled condenser

        . Shell and Tube Type condenser

        . Shell and coil Type condenser

        . Double Pipe Type condenser

        . Plate type heat exchanger 



What is a Evaporative condenser

   The Evaporative condenser looks like a cooling tower and which is cooled by the help of water or forced convection air is called a Evaporative condenser. This type of the condenser provide a fans to the air flows through the upward.

   It construction, consists of the bare tube type condenser Common shapes are zig-zag, flat or spiral shafe made of copper and maybe steel pipe used for ammonia refrigerant.


How does the Evaporative condenser work 

    The working principle, of The cooled water takes a pump and carrying the top of the condenser coils then sprayed cooled water by the help of nozzles to the condenser coils. The warm condenser coils are contact with a cooled water to the evaporation or sensible cooling of the water and heat transfer from the condenser to the atmosphere by the help of water or forced convection air by using a fan of the upward position. the convert cooled water to warm water. The warm water downward to the condenser due to gravity. Then the warm water collected by the collecting basin or pean provide for downward position. Then The water cycling Repeatedly again and again.



Types of the Evaporative condenser

   Installed in the inside and maybe outside of the open atmospheric space.

    It s generally used in the medium and large commercial or industrial refrigerating machine and large air conditioning plants. 



What is a Atmospheric Condenser

   The condenser installed in the open atmospheric space or outside and which is the cooled by the water or natural convection air is called atmospheric condenser. The fans or blowers are not required. The condenser pipes are normally large, and they can be either horizontal or vertical. 

   It construction, consists of the Bare pipe or tube is made of steel in Common shapes are zig-zag, flat or spiral shafe . The steel pipe or tube, used to the ammonia refrigerant inside of the pipe.

   The Woking principle, of The cooled water is spray or distributed by the help of nozzles, to the top of the condenser coils provide a pump and the cooled water contact with warm condenser to the evaporation of water and heat transfer from the condenser to the atmosphere by the help of water or natural air and the convert cooled water to warm water. the warming of water are downward to the condenser and the collected by the collecting basin or pean provide it. Then The water cycling Repeatedly again and again. the used in the large spece required for a given capacity.

   The commercially or industrially used in the condenser like a Air cooled condenser only forced convection air by the help of fans or blowers, Water cooled condenser Evaporative type condenser and other one of the Atmospheric Condenser.
